Champions Trophy Updates

Cricket fans are in high hopes for the 2025 Champions Trophy, with the most awaited clash between competitors Pakistan and India. Such hostilities have always been a fascinating spectacle, and the opportunity to face off pushes both teams forward. Recently Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi spoke about future competitions between Pakistan and India in the tournament and arrangements about Pakistan joining the Champions Trophy. After Mohsin Naqvi’s visit to review what is happening at Karachi’s National Bank Stadium, he confirmed that matches between Pakistan and India will take place at neutral venues for the next three years. For this year matches will be played in Dubai. This includes any finals, assuming both teams qualify for the tournament. There was also a refresh of the transcript about the venue of the Champions Trophy.

However, this is the last step of the negotiations in which the ICC will finally create an international event schedule, but he revealed that there will be a brief conclusion on it as soon as possible. Although it did not reveal the exact location, the prominent number of matches for Karachi during the tournament indicated promising news for Karachi. The PCB chairman also noted potential problems over India’s absence with regard to this series. His statement largely confirms that while India would not have traveled to Pakistan, it would not have resulted in any financial loss. He said that, the ICC would increase the allowance to compensate for any additional costs experienced for the match been played at a neutral venue. Eventuality plans are always in place if India refuses to participate with a venue that is yet to be certified for the start of the tournament.

“The PCB has formally informed the ICC about the neutral venue decision. Now, India and Pakistan’s Champions Trophy matches will be held in the UAE. The decision regarding the neutral venue for the Champions Trophy was to be made by the host, Pakistan. The final decision on the venue was made after a meeting between Mohsin Naqvi and Sheikh Al Nahyan. Sheikh Al Nahyan, currently in Pakistan, is also the Chairman of the UAE Cricket Board,” he added.
