In a major PCB announcement, Chairman Mohsin Naqvi confirmed the PSL relocation to the UAE following rising India-Pakistan tensions and the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium attack. The Pakistan Super League (PSL) was postponed temporarily due to increasing border escalations and threats to player safety.
The PSL stakeholders, including franchises and sponsors, backed the PCB decision, emphasizing the mental well-being of cricketers and the importance of foreign players’ security. With the PSL schedule change, the remaining PSL matches shifted from Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan to secure venues in the UAE.
This PSL revised schedule will ensure that the PSL final matches are conducted safely, preserving the credibility of the league. The HBL Pakistan Super League 2025 is expected to return to Pakistan, pending security reviews.
Mohsin Naqvi’s PSL statement reassured fans that player welfare is the top priority, highlighting ongoing challenges due to Indo-Pak tensions. The PSL 2025 planning is already underway, with lessons from this PSL relocation shaping future policies. He added:
“As in the past, we hope that our stakeholders will rally with us to further the best interests of the tournament, our players, and the fans. To ensure the safety of our domestic and international players — who are our valued guests — we have decided to move the remaining matches to the UAE.”
